XPL token plunged over 50% days after launch, sparking insider selling accusations.
Plasma founder Paul Faecks denies any team token sales and clarified token lock-up periods.
Community investigators claim that over 600 million XPL may have been moved to exchanges.
TWAP selling strategy is suspected by on-chain analysts.
Plasma denies any relationship with Wintermute as a market maker.
Following the initial launch, XPL saw a sharp spike, reaching $1.70. But just days later, by Wednesday, it had dropped to $0.83, according to CoinGecko.
This sudden drop of over 50% led to a surge of community investigations and on-chain analysis.

TWAP (Time-Weighted Average Price) selling is a trading algorithm where large sell orders are split into smaller ones executed at regular intervals.
This kind of strategy is often used to reduce price impact, but it can raise red flags if used excessively.
In response to the allegations, Faecks firmly denied any business ties with Wintermute:
“We have not engaged Wintermute as a market maker and have never contracted with Wintermute for any of their services. We have the same information as the public on Wintermute’s ownership of XPL.”
This denial did little to ease tensions in the community, especially after speculation spread about the fate of tokens categorized under “ecosystem and growth.”
Community members are now focusing on the ecosystem and growth token allocations, which are separate from team tokens. Critics argue that Faecks’ public statements, while denying team sales, avoid clarity on whether these other tokens were sold.
Despite the ongoing debate, Faecks concluded by reiterating the team’s long-term vision:
“We are laser-focused on building the future of money.”
Onchain investigator ManaMoon pointed to suspicious movements from the Plasma team vault, which allegedly sent over 600 million XPL tokens to exchanges in the days surrounding the launch.

Another community member, @crypto_popseye, blamed both the team and well-known algorithmic trading firm Wintermute for the crash. He added, “Plasma pretty much destroyed their chart and momentum.”
Despite its recent volatility, some analysts suggest the current dip may offer a buying opportunity for long-term holders, while others remain cautious due to transparency concerns.
Given the current market sentiment and community trust issues, XPL may face further short-term downward pressure.
Traders should watch closely for official updates and token unlock schedules.
If the Plasma team can restore trust and demonstrate utility in its stablecoin-focused layer-1 blockchain, the XPL token could regain upward momentum.
Key to this will be transparent communication, ecosystem development, and exchange activity.
XPL is the native token of Plasma, a layer-1 blockchain designed for fast and low-cost stablecoin transactions.
The token fell over 50% amid speculation of insider or TWAP selling. The team denies any wrongdoing, stating that all team and investor tokens remain locked.
According to founder Paul Faecks, Plasma has no relationship with Wintermute, and any ownership Wintermute has is not connected to official contracts or agreements.
Market recovery depends on the team’s transparency, ecosystem growth, and community support. Price movement is unpredictable, especially in the current volatile environment.
