CleanSpark shares surged over 13% following the company’s announcement to enter the AI data center market.
The move is aimed at diversifying revenue amid post-Bitcoin halving challenges.
Jeffrey Thomas, former AI executive from Saudi Arabia, will lead the new division.
CleanSpark is focusing its AI expansion in Georgia, specifically College Park.
Other Bitcoin miners like Core Scientific, Hut 8, and Iris Energy are also pivoting to AI for revenue growth.
As of October 2025, CleanSpark ranks as the fifth-largest Bitcoin mining company by market capitalization.
Now, the company is expanding beyond crypto mining by investing in AI data center infrastructure, a decision driven by the need for stable and scalable revenue streams.

The company’s shift signals a growing trend among major Bitcoin miners as they look to capitalize on the booming demand for AI compute power.
To spearhead this initiative, CleanSpark appointed Jeffrey Thomas as Senior Vice President of AI Data Centers.
Thomas brings extensive experience from his leadership role at Humain, a Saudi-based AI firm, where he led the country’s multi-billion-dollar AI data center program.
Over his career, Thomas has created over $12 billion in shareholder value across 19 ventures, marking him as a critical asset to CleanSpark’s long-term growth strategy.
CleanSpark has already contracted for additional power and real estate in College Park, Georgia, aiming to serve the greater Atlanta metro area with high-performance compute capabilities.
Investors responded positively to the news. CleanSpark’s stock price jumped over 13% on Monday, adding to its impressive 140% year-to-date growth in 2025, according to Google Finance.
This surge reflects confidence in CleanSpark’s strategic direction and the market’s broader recognition of the AI sector’s profitability, especially for infrastructure-heavy players like Bitcoin miners.
CleanSpark’s pivot is part of a wider trend among Bitcoin mining firms seeking alternative income sources due to shrinking margins following the 2024 Bitcoin halving.
Reduced block rewards and rising energy costs have made traditional mining operations less profitable.
Other major mining companies are also jumping on the AI bandwagon:
Core Scientific signed a $3.5 billion agreement with AI cloud provider CoreWeave to deliver 200 megawatts of infrastructure. This move is expected to generate $3.5 billion over 12 years.
Iris Energy, another Bitcoin miner, has also been exploring ways to repurpose its infrastructure for high-performance computing workloads.

CleanSpark is expanding into AI to diversify its revenue and capitalize on the increasing demand for data center infrastructure. This comes at a time when Bitcoin miners are facing tighter profit margins due to the 2024 halving.
Jeffrey Thomas, a veteran in AI infrastructure and former president of Humain, has been appointed to lead CleanSpark’s AI data center division.
CleanSpark’s stock price rose over 13% immediately following the announcement and is up 140% year-to-date in 2025.
