XPeng will launch robotaxis and humanoid robots powered by its in-house Turing AI chips in 2026.
The robotaxi fleet will leverage Alibaba’s AutoNavi platform for routing and booking.
XPeng’s Iron 2 humanoid robot enters mass production next year with multiple customization options.
The company’s driver-assist system will debut with Volkswagen as its first client.
XPeng’s AI ambitions now encompass ground, aerial, and humanoid mobility, marking a major step toward integrated intelligent systems.
XPeng confirmed that it will introduce three robotaxi models, each powered by four in-house Turing AI chips capable of delivering a combined 3,000 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of computing power.

The vehicles will run on XPeng’s second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model, which enables cars to interpret their surroundings and act autonomously, without human prompts.
Each robotaxi will feature external visor displays that share information such as speed or route details with pedestrians and other drivers.
Testing will begin in Guangzhou before expanding to other Chinese cities in 2026, signaling XPeng’s confidence in scaling its autonomous mobility systems.
To strengthen its operational capabilities, XPeng is partnering with Alibaba through AutoNavi and the Amaps ride-hailing platform.
This collaboration allows XPeng’s robotaxis to be integrated directly into existing mapping and booking ecosystems, offering seamless user experiences without needing to build a separate platform from scratch.
According to Co-President Gu, XPeng’s technological roadmap shares similarities with Tesla’s but also includes innovations that began earlier.
Gu highlighted that XPeng was developing certain technologies, such as flying cars and humanoid robotics, before Tesla announced similar efforts.

XPeng also introduced the Iron 2, its second-generation humanoid robot, scheduled for mass production in 2026. The robot will be powered by three Turing chips and feature a solid-state battery, providing longer operational life and improved safety.
The company plans to offer customization options such as variable body shapes, appearances, and hairstyles. However, XPeng’s CEO He Xiaopeng stated that consumer-grade home robots remain years away due to current production costs and China’s low factory labor expenses.
Initially, XPeng’s humanoids will serve as tour guides, showroom assistants, and corporate reception bots, with deployment starting within the company’s own facilities.
He said:
“I don’t know how many robots we will sell in the next 10 years, but it will be more than the number of cars.”
In early 2026, XPeng will introduce a driver-assist system optimized for narrow and complex urban roads. The system will first appear in Volkswagen vehicles, making Volkswagen XPeng’s first external client for the technology.
XPeng claims the system requires less manual control than Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) and completes test routes several minutes faster. It is designed for European city layouts, where tight streets demand precision navigation.
Since 2023, XPeng has gradually deployed its driver-assist features in major Chinese cities, helping the company stand out in China’s competitive electric vehicle and smart mobility market.
Testing starts in Guangzhou in 2026, with expansion to other cities soon after.
Each vehicle uses four in-house Turing AI chips delivering 3,000 TOPS of computing performance.
XPeng’s system requires less human input and is specifically designed for tight urban environments, completing routes faster in tests.
Initially for corporate roles such as guides, receptionists, and sales assistants, before broader commercial use.
