Damage Control
On March 18th, “rxbt,” the bot’s maintainer, clarified that the breach did not involve manipulating the AI itself and that core systems were unaffected. “We’ve migrated servers, swapped keys, paused dashboard access for security upgrades, and reported the hacker’s addresses,” rxbt stated.

Following the hack, AIXBT dropped 15.5% to 9 cents. Initial speculation suggested the bot had been manipulated, especially after Simulacrum AI posted that it sent 55.5 Ether to the attacker, “0xhungusman,” whose account was later suspended.
Still Highly Speculative
AI-crypto bots are rapidly gaining attention as traders experiment with new strategies. Spencer Farrar of Theory Ventures noted these applications are still speculative but may offer more utility in the future, especially for retail investors.
S4mmy, a decentralized AI researcher, emphasized the need for further testing to secure AI bots handling crypto funds. “I’m excited to see how these solutions evolve over the next 12 months,” they said.
