Native Markets has officially won the USDH ticker through a Hyperliquid community vote.
The USDH stablecoin will launch as an ERC-20 token with a phased rollout starting at $800 transaction limits.
Ethena’s withdrawal led to a surge in prediction market confidence for Native Markets.
Industry figures questioned the fairness and transparency of the bidding process.
USDH could become part of a larger trend where stablecoin tickers are abstracted away from users.
On Sunday, Native Markets emerged as the official issuer and manager of the USDH stablecoin after securing a decisive majority in a community vote.
This outcome follows the project’s submission of a Hyperliquid Improvement Proposal (HIP) and outlines its intent to roll out an ERC-20 version of USDH.

The bid for the USDH ticker became a focal point for the crypto community.
Still, not everyone was pleased with how events unfolded. Haseeb Qureshi, Managing Partner at Dragonfly, voiced skepticism on X:
“Starting to feel like the USDH RFP was a bit of a farce… none of the validators are interested in considering anyone besides Native Markets.”
These comments fueled broader concerns about transparency and fairness in decentralized governance processes, especially for major ecosystem decisions.
Max Fiege, founder of Native Markets, provided insight into the next steps for USDH deployment:
“We will then start with a testing phase for mints and redeems of up to $800 per transaction with an initial group, to be followed by the opening of the USDH/USDC spot order book, as well as uncapped mints and redeems.”

This phased rollout aims to ensure security, liquidity, and usability of the USDH stablecoin from day one.
Mert Mumtaz, CEO of node provider Helius, offered a more strategic takeaway, suggesting that stablecoins are becoming commoditized.
In the future, he speculates, end-users may not even see individual stablecoin tickers like USDH:
“Exchanges will display just ‘USD’ while handling swaps between stablecoins in the backend.”
This view aligns with the idea that stablecoin infrastructure is shifting toward interoperability and invisibility at the user interface level, with USDH being one part of that evolving system.
The launch of the USDH stablecoin signals Hyperliquid’s commitment to expanding its native ecosystem. With a native stablecoin, the exchange gains better control over liquidity, fees, and integration capabilities across DeFi applications.
Furthermore, Native Markets’ win sets a precedent for how decentralized platforms may choose future asset issuers, raising questions about governance transparency, validator influence, and market dynamics.
The USDH stablecoin is a US dollar-pegged digital asset developed for the Hyperliquid decentralized exchange, offering stability and utility within the DeFi ecosystem.
Native Markets has been selected by the Hyperliquid community to issue and manage the USDH stablecoin following a successful proposal and vote.
USDH will enter a testing phase soon, beginning with capped mints and redeems of up to $800 per transaction. A full launch with an open USDH/USDC spot market will follow.
Some industry executives claimed the selection process lacked transparency, suggesting that validators may have favored Native Markets from the beginning.
Possibly not in the long term. Some experts believe exchanges will abstract away individual stablecoin tickers and display a generic “USD” to simplify the user experience.
