A dormant whale transferred 1,000 BTC (worth $116M) just before the Fed’s interest rate decision.
Over 57% of traders are shorting Bitcoin, suggesting bearish short-term sentiment.
FedWatch Tool shows 96% of investors expect a 25 bps rate cut.
Bitcoin price prediction remains uncertain in the short term but looks bullish long-term if rate cuts occur in 2025.
Whale movements are often a precursor to significant market moves, but not a guarantee of direction.
In a surprising move that’s caught the attention of traders and analysts, a Bitcoin wallet that had been dormant for over 12 years has suddenly become active.
The wallet’s owner transferred 1,000 BTC, originally purchased at around $847 per coin, to new addresses.
At current prices, that BTC is valued at approximately $116 million, a substantial gain on the original investment of $847,000.
According to Lookonchain, the transaction took place on Wednesday, just hours before the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) was scheduled to meet.

This timing has led many to believe the whale is bracing for increased market volatility. A Lookonchain spokesperson said:
“Whale movements, especially from wallets inactive for years, often hint at potential shifts in market sentiment.”
The Federal Reserve’s upcoming interest rate announcement is one of the most anticipated economic events of the year.
As of the latest data from the CME Group’s FedWatch Tool, over 96% of market participants expect a 25 basis point rate cut.
Benjamin Cowen, founder of Into The Cryptoverse, reflecting the heightened anticipation surrounding the Fed’s move:
“Tomorrow is the most important FOMC of our lives… until the next one.”
The expectation is that the central bank will either begin cutting rates or provide strong signals for future cuts, potentially influencing risk-on assets like Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Despite Bitcoin’s recent recovery from $108,000 to over $115,000, most crypto traders remain bearish in the short term.
57% of traders across major exchanges are shorting BTC, betting on a price decline.
Futures open interest has dropped by over $2 billion in the past five days, indicating a de-risking strategy by institutional and retail investors.
Meanwhile, on Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, traders have been buying Bitcoin consistently in the lead-up to the Fed meeting.

With a massive whale transfer and macroeconomic uncertainty colliding, the question on every trader’s mind is clear: Where is Bitcoin headed next?
In the short term, we may see heightened volatility. Traders are divided, with many expecting a temporary pullback if the Fed’s decision disappoints expectations.
The fact that futures interest is dropping could suggest limited upside in the immediate aftermath of the announcement.
Financial institutions like Bank of America and Goldman Sachs are projecting up to three interest rate cuts in 2025. This environment could be favorable for Bitcoin, which historically benefits from loose monetary policy.
If these rate cuts materialize, Bitcoin could resume its upward trajectory, potentially reclaiming previous highs or setting new records.
A Bitcoin whale is an individual or entity that holds a large amount of BTC. Their transactions can significantly impact market prices due to the volume of assets they control.
Interest rate decisions influence liquidity and investor risk appetite. Lower interest rates typically drive more investment into assets like Bitcoin.
Not necessarily. Whale activity can indicate market shifts, but it doesn’t guarantee direction. It’s best interpreted in the context of broader market signals.
That depends on your investment strategy. While long-term fundamentals remain strong, short-term volatility is expected due to macroeconomic uncertainty.
