Safeheron’s TEE framework is the first open-source solution built using the native Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) SDK and developed entirely in modern C++. This powerful, object-oriented language is commonly used in system-level development, financial modeling, and performance-intensive applications like gaming and simulations.
By combining Intel’s trusted hardware architecture with the efficiency of C++, the framework offers a robust foundation for developers seeking to build high-security Web3 solutions. This open-source model enables community collaboration and reduces reliance on opaque, proprietary systems.
Safeheron’s team stated:
“We believe transparency and collaboration are vital to security innovation. Closed systems hinder progress and breed vulnerabilities. Open-sourcing our TEE framework is a step toward faster, safer development.”
Trusted Execution Environments are secure, isolated zones within a computer’s CPU, commonly referred to as enclaves. These areas allow code to execute and data to be processed in a protected environment, isolated even from the operating system and other software components.
This means sensitive operations such as cryptographic key management or private data handling can be performed safely as well as efficiently.
TEEs are already employed across various Web3 sectors, such as privacy-focused blockchains, oracle networks, and decentralized finance platforms. Networks like Oasis, Secret Network, and Phala Network are known for leveraging TEEs, while other major players, such as Chainlink, are believed to use similar secure computation technologies.
According to Safeheron:
“The decision to open-source the framework was driven by the growing concern over the limitations of closed ecosystems, especially as the frequency of security breaches increases across the digital asset space.”
The team then emphasized”
“We’re not afraid of competition, what we fear is innovation being stifled by black-box solutions.”
By making the framework public, Safeheron encourages developers to audit, improve, and deploy TEE-based applications across a variety of platforms. This move also aligns with a broader industry shift toward transparency and decentralization.
The framework allows organizations to deploy enclaves on any Intel SGX-compatible cloud infrastructure, including public cloud services.
This flexibility removes technical barriers and empowers startups and enterprises alike to adopt secure computing environments without having to build proprietary tech stacks.

Safeheron’s framework is already in use by over 100 clients, including payment service providers, OTC trading desks, crypto exchanges, and wallet services. Notable clients include MetaMask, Doo Group, and Amber Group.
In August 2022, Safeheron raised $7 million in pre-Series A funding, which was allocated to R&D and expanding the business development team. This financial backing has helped bring the open-source framework to life and underscores investor confidence in the company’s long-term vision.
Trusted Execution Environments are also increasingly relevant to the broader blockchain ecosystem. In recent industry conversations, TEEs have been proposed as a solution for enhancing privacy in Ethereum-based applications, particularly around wallet security and RPC node interactions.
By processing wallet transactions inside secure enclaves, TEEs can protect private keys and prevent data leakage, providing users with stronger privacy assurances.
Safeheron noted:
“The future of Web3 depends on trust, and trust starts with security that’s verifiable and transparent.”
Looking Ahead
By open-sourcing its TEE framework, Safeheron is contributing to the broader mission of creating a more secure and decentralized Web3 infrastructure for everyone.
Thanks to the widespread support for Intel SGX and a developer-friendly architecture, the framework is expected to become a foundational tool for building next-generation decentralized applications with real value.
As these types of technologies continue to evolve, the need for secure, transparent computing will only grow. Solutions like Safeheron’s TEE framework position the industry to meet these demands head-on.
